Are you looking for ways to speed up your testing processes and save costs? Find out how PIP (Profilometry-based Indentation Plastometry) can take your research and development to the next level.

Rapid, streamlined testing

PIP simplifies the testing process, from minimal sample prep (p1200 finish) to a fully automated test that takes just five minutes. Results are instant, with users reporting 99% reduction in both time and costs compared to standard tensile testing workflows. Rapid testing empowers users to optimise and qualify materials far more efficiently than ever before.

Enhanced research insights

PIP enables teams to carry out indentation tests directly on components or welds, ensuring representative test results while removing the need for witness coupons. It can create multiple indents at a millimetre scale, generating spatially resolved maps for simulations that predict component performance.

Increased efficiency with small sample sizes

PIP testing is based on a millimetre scale indentation test, allowing teams to extract an accurate stress-strain curve from samples down to a size of just 3 x 3 x 1.5 mm. This enables users to minimise specimen volumes, saving on materials costs, while reaping the benefits of accelerated testing, ensuring both efficiency and accuracy in their research and development processes.

PIP Testing

All of our products utilise PIP (Profilometry-based Indentation Plastometry), a platform technology developed by  Plastometer’s team of materials scientists. PIP testing enables the measurement of stress-strain curves from indentation test data.
